Dr. Edward Chan

Dr. Edward Chan studied at the University of Waterloo.  He graduated with an Honours Bachelor in Science degree and Doctor in Optometry degree.  During his studies, he did an internship in Philadelphia focusing on ocular disease and management.  He also interned at the Scarborough Low Vision Clinic where he developed his skills whereby he is now one of the few Optometrists currently providing Low Vision Services and also ADP (assistive devices program) authorized.

After graduation, Dr. Chan worked as an associate in Scarborough before starting his private practice in Markham.  For several years, he also went in-house providing vision care to the elderly at the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Scarborough and also the Mon Sheong Long Term Care Centre in Scarborough.

  • Licensed to prescibe TPA’s in Ontario (Glaucoma, Antibiotics, Cortico-steroids)
  • Member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists
  • Class president of his Optometry Class at the University of Waterloo
  • Passed all requirements of the CSAO Canadian Standard Assessment in Optometry
  • Clinical Assessor for the CSAO to determine competency of new optometry graduates
  • Passed parts I, II & TMOD of the American National Board of Examiners in Optometry
  • ADP Assistive Devices Authorizer in Ontario for Low Vision
  • Affiliate of TLC Laser Eye Centre for Co-Management of laser eye surgery
  • Affiliate of Bochner Eye Institute for Co-Management of laser eye surgery

Dr. Terri Chong

Dr. Terri Chong studied at the University of Waterloo.  She graduated with an Honours Bachelor in Science degree and Doctor in Optometry degree.  During her studies, she did an internship in Atlanta focusing on ocular disease and management.  She also interned in British Columbia and Alberta focusing on primary care optometry.  Dr. Terri Chong is also an ADP authorizer & vendor in Ontario and one of the few Optometrists currently providing Low Vision Services.

During her schooling, Dr. Chong worked at the CCLR (Centre for Contact Lens Research) at the University of Waterloo.  After graduation, she continued on as a Research Optometrist for CCLR.  She was involved in the studies of the now modern day Silicone Hydrogel contacts lenses, clinical grading of red eyes, and a survey of randomly-selected Canadian optometrists’ contact lens fitting & dispensing.  Dr. Chong has co-authored published journal articles while at CCLR.

Dr. Chong then started her private practice in Markham with Dr. Chan.  For several years, she also went in-house providing vision care to the elderly at the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Scarborough, Mon Sheong Long Term Care Centre in Scarborough, The Donway Place Retirement Residence and Meadowvale nursing home (now called Constitution Place Retirement Residence).
