Red Light Therapy

Photo BioModulation (Red Light Therapy)   Deep red light at 670nm in the near-infrared range has been shown to be beneficial in promoting long term eye health.  It occurs naturally in sunlight and has a long wavelength and therefore low energy making it safe for the eyes

Mitochondria play a key role in regulating the ageing process.  The science has shown that PhotoBioModulation stimulates the mitochondria and activates the ATP pathway to help improve circulation and decrease inflammation in retinal cells (as well as other areas of the body).    Red Light therapy has been shown to alter the course of ageing in the central nervous system, by improving the survival and function of neurons and reducing gliosis and inflammation.

Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of blindness in North America.  The Espansione Group has announced the publication of the 6-month milestone results of the DRUSEN Study, part of the LightWave I multicentric clinical trial, which investigates the use of Light Modulation® Low-Level Light Therapy (LM® LLLT) for patients with Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration (dAMD). The study, published in the September issue of Springer’s Ophthalmology & Therapy Journal, demonstrated the safety, tolerability, and short-term efficacy of LM® LLLT in dAMD patients.

Key findings include:

The study involved 152 eyes from 76 patients and is part of ongoing research to slow AMD progression and prevent its advanced stages. Prof. Enrico Borrelli, lead investigator from the University of Turin, highlighted the importance of the study in improving the understanding of light therapy in managing retinal degeneration. The full study can be accessed via Espansione Group's website.
